Crematorium Rees
Exterior Gendai Cladding
Rees, Germany
Project Overview
In the serene landscape of the lower Rhine region, the newly built Rees Crematorium stands as a testament to the tranquil finality and the gentle embrace of nature. This architectural marvel is a profound representation of Nakamoto Forestry’s dedication to combining traditional practices with modern design. Clad in our esteemed Gendai, a derived from the ancient Japanese art of Yakisugi, the exterior exudes a dignified elegance that honors the site’s solemn purpose.
The deep, rich tones of the charred Gendai wood are a visual symphony, showcasing the beauty that arises from embracing natural elements in building practices. This carbonized finish doesn’t only offer a compelling aesthetic; it serves a practical purpose by enhancing the wood’s durability and resistance to the elements, ensuring that the building’s integrity will stand the test of time, much like the memories it is there to safeguard.
Nakamoto Forestry’s Gendai surfaces interact gracefully with the crematorium’s clean lines and reflective glass, creating an interplay of light and texture that is both grounding and uplifting. Our sustainable approach to wood processing not only reflects our commitment to the environment but also embodies the reverence for life’s cycle, echoed in the very purpose of the crematorium.
