Allgäu foothills residence
Exterior Suyaki / Pika-Pika Cladding
Buchenberg Germany
Project Overview
On a picturesque hill on the outskirts of a small village in the German Southern Ostallgäu region, a unique new construction project has been realized, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern architecture. The facade of this exceptional residential building was clad with our exquisite Suyaki and Pika-Pika wood paneling, which not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the house but also ensures sustainable durability.
A Harmonious Combination of Materials The combination of the deep black charred Suyaki wood and the finely polished Pika-Pika surface creates an exciting contrast, further emphasized by the natural color tones of the upper facade area. While the charred layer of Suyaki provides a robust, weather-resistant protective coating, the Pika-Pika finish lends the wood an elegant, smooth surface with a unique depth effect.
Sustainability Meets Modern Construction The traditional Japanese Yakisugi technique, in which wood is refined through controlled charring, makes the facade particularly resistant to weather conditions, pests, and UV radiation – all without chemical treatment. This principle of natural preservation fits perfectly into the sustainable construction concept of the house. Complemented by large photovoltaic elements on the facades, the building optimally utilizes renewable energy and contributes to an energy-efficient future.
A Home with Character and Longevity In addition to its impressive aesthetics and sustainable construction, the building offers a cozy ambiance with modern comforts. Large window fronts provide ample natural light and a direct connection to the surrounding nature. The thoughtful combination of aesthetics, functionality, and ecological responsibility makes this project a prime example of future-oriented construction.
With this unique new construction, Nakamoto Forestry Europe demonstrates how traditional materials can be seamlessly integrated with contemporary architecture – creating a home that is both stylish and sustainable.
