G09-101 minor manufacturing defect: the surface finish has a slightly higher gloss than usual. The gloss should fade quickly when exposed to the elements. Otherwise, the product is perfectly fine.

Our Gendai products receive a single brushing to remove some of the delicate soot layer–leaving a smooth, consistent, and dark surface. We then apply a water-based protection stain in transparent (1 coat).
